Giveaway & Event Report: Ball by Mary Sullivan

By Cynthia Leitich Smith

Enter to win a signed copy of Ball by Mary Sullivan (Houghton Mifflin, 2013). From the promotional copy:

A dog with a ball is one of the most relentlessly hopeful creatures on Earth.

After his best little-girl pal leaves for school, this dog hits up yoga mom, baby, and even the angry cat for a quick throw. No luck.

Forced to go solo, the dog begins a hilarious one-sided game of fetch until naptime’s wild, ball-centric dream sequence. The pictures speak a thousand words in this comic book-style ode to canine monomania.

Ball? Ball.

  1. Shadow and I play ball at the beach almost every day. Sometimes I throw it out into the water for him to swim after but he's 10 now so he gets tired more easily than he used to. Sometimes I bounce it high on the hard sand and he catches it in on the high bounce with all four feet off the ground. He's quite the gifted athlete, even at his age.

  2. The event looks fun just like the book. My dog loves playing ball (just not so good at the bringing back part)

  3. What a great event. And what a fun concept for a book. It looks terrific. Thanks for running the giveaway.

  4. Ball looks excellent! We have a crazy Jack Russell Terrier who lives to play ball. We put a wooden fence around our big backyard last spring so that we could chuck the ball as hard as possible and she can run her heart out. It doesn't matter how many times in a day you play, she'll always want one more! Thanks for the giveaway!
