Thank you for being a Cynsations reader!
Effective immediately, the Cynsations digital magazine is on hiatus. We’ll return in December with more inspiration, insights and information on children’s-YA writing, illustration, literature and publishing.
At Cynsations, we celebrate Native authors and illustrators all year long, but we know more teachers and child-caregivers may be searching for titles with supplemental educational and/or entertaining resources during Native Heritage Month.

Check out We Need Diverse Books‘ resource Indigenous Reads Rising, which offers articles about best practices, along with book lists by age category and topic, plus resources for educators, librarians, booksellers, families and writers. Cynthia Leitich Smith has also assembled an extensive list of related literary resources.
For those celebrating fall by diving into a manuscript, visit Cynthia’s Writing Craft Resources for insights on an array of topics from backstory to voice and everything in between.
Cynthia also discusses those topics on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
You can also meet Cynthia at upcoming book festivals and events, including:
The Texas Book Festival on Nov. 8 and Nov. 9 in Austin.
